Doylestown’s Balayage Specialists

Balayage is a hair color technique that originated in France in the 1970’s. In fact, it’s name comes from the French word meaning “to sweep”. Unlike with traditional foil highlights, your stylist will paint (or sweep) the color or lightener onto individual hair strands. This creates depth, lightness, and dimension allowing for a more subtle, natural result.

Balayage Misconceptions

This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, some of the most stunning results are achieved on dark haired clients! Thanks to its versatility, this technique is even great for vivid colors.
Not at all! Actually, our stylists will work with your unique texture and style in order to highlight your best features.
Just the opposite. Because the color is not applied all the way to the roots, you won’t be left with harsh regrowth lines. As a result, it requires less frequent touch ups!

While similar gradients can be achieved, these two concepts are very different. Think of it as a technique vs a look. Ombré is a way to describe a finished look. Semantics aside, hair painting allows for smooth transitions between colors while ombré creates a more obvious fade between shades.
